Find the pupils behind the percentage

A whole-school figure gives direction, but action begins with names.

Attendance percentages help leaders see the size and direction of a problem. They do not explain who needs help today or what that help should be.

Look deliberately for pupils whose attendance is deteriorating quickly, including those who have not yet crossed persistent-absence thresholds. The rate of change can be a stronger early-warning signal than the current percentage alone.

A useful weekly rhythm moves from the headline to cohorts, from cohorts to named pupils, and from named pupils to an owned next action.
